Challenge 1: NavigationStudents were given a scenario where they had to move to Paris and did not know any French. They had to get from their hotel to the Eiffel Tower by 12 PM for a meeting with their new boss. They didn't have a car and had to use the bus and metro system (RATP). Scheduling was tricky because the entire website was in French!
Challenge 3: Stretch Your MoneyStudents were given the scenario of being a recent immigrant with only $1700 in their pockets. They had to buy enough food and necessities for a week, find an apartment, purchase a cell phone, and have enough money left over to send back home to their family. They quickly realized how little purchases can add up, and how many difficult decisions immigrants have to make.

Challenge 2: School AssignmentStudents were given step-by-step directions to complete simple classroom tasks. The catch? All the directions were in German with only a few labels around the room to guide them.
Challenge 4: Grocery ShoppingStudents were challenged to find familiar groceries in an Ethiopian grocery store. Once they realized that wasn't an option, they were given the names of traditional Ethiopian foods so they could "cook" the dishes for their "families."
